Default variableheater temp

I have a 2017 lariat with dual controls. The driver side temperature varies from dead cold to high heat. The blend door seems to be working since i get heat sometimes. Would the actuator cause this problem? I know I have two for each side and they are not fun to get to. It's been 0 degrees F h ere in Cent Ill, could that havensomething to do with it? I found a hhread for this specific problem, if there is one please let me know.

It is likely either the actuator or a wiring issue. The actuators are a common problem. You can be thankful in that the driver side temperature door actuator (Item 10) is the easiest one to access and change. Get a Ford/Motorcraft replacement. There has been a lot of problems with the aftermarket actuators not working right out of the box.

An ambient temperature around 0°F has nothing to do with your issue. Its been below 0°F here for weeks and no temperature control issues for my truck.

Can you pull chassis codes? I've had actuator codes in Forscan on my '16, and wound up changing that actuator.

I believe you do need to reset the HVAC after repair, so the encoders know the positions of the doors. I think you either disconnect the battery or pull a specific fuse. Sorry I don’t remeber which one.
