Default USB Ports Not Working

I knocked coffee from my center console and shortly after my USB/Sync function stopped working. I guess some liquid made it into the USB port. So I need some suggestions.

I've pulled the module with a trim tool and cleaned the terminals, then reconnected. There's a light that illuminates but still no charging or recognition by the Sync system.

Could it just need to be replaced?

Things that I have tried:
1. Tried 3 different USB cables all new. Still not working.
2. Did a master reset on sync. Still not working..
3. Checked all settings on the phone and in Sync to make sure they're enabled. They were. Still not working.
4. Deleted and added the phone back into Sync. No luck.
5. Plugged the phone into one of the ports in the back seat area and it indicates that it's charging from there at least. No indication of charging from front ports.

Most likely damaged by the liquid. This is often what happens when liquid is spilt on the ports. The module is replaceable. I replaced the one in my 2016 with HC3Z-19A387-B and upgraded my SYNC software so I now have Apple CarPlay. You did not provide a MY so the part number could be wrong for your application.

Ah sure enough, seems like I always forget something important to include. I have a 2016 F-150 Platinum edition. The sticker from the bad module has GC3T-14F014-BB. How would I go about Carplay as that I dont think was supported?

The GC3T-14F14-BB will be the Engineering Number used internally by Ford and is the same module I replaced (which I still own). In order to get CarPlay supported, you need to change out the module for the HC3Z-19A387-B (this is the Service Part Number) and then update your SYNC to V2.2. There are lots of threads on updating SYNC. I suggest you read a few. V2.2 software should be available from the Ford SYNC update website. After updating to V2.2 you need to enable CarPlay in the SYNC menu. After I got it working I then updated to V3.4.

Power to the blue light in the USB hub comes in from a dedicated power source because the voltage is different. USB is 5VDC. The blue light is 12VDC. That is why the light works but not the ports.

There is a chance it is disconnected from the back of the Sync 3 assembly. It relatively easy to access to check the connection, but my vote is a bad USB hub.

If you buy a Lincoln or F250 USB hub the light will be white instead of blue but it will work just the same. That might open up some options at a local salvage yard where you could probably get a replacement for dirt cheap.

It was a bad USB hub. When part HC3Z-19A387-B arrived it worked immediatly and enabled Apple CarPlay so I'm happy.
