Default USB device is not responding

My head unit will occasionally show "USB device is not responding"

That's funny. I don't have one plugged in. Sync doesn't recognize a correctly formatted USB when plugged in either. Any comments or solutions from the crowd?

I don't know what year truck you have or whether you have Sync 2 or 3, but o my 2015 I have upgraded to Sync 3 and installed a console out of a 2016 and I had that pop up a few times on me and it would only read my flash drive from the left USB. Then one day it quit reading at all so I upgraded to the newer USB hub designed for Apple Car Play and I have had no issues since. Here is a link to the USB hub I bought. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-for-Fo...72.m2749.l2649

Well my console was a 2016 and that is what mine did several times, so I would consider changing the hub. But maybe someone else will have another idea.

Do you use Apple Car Play? I guess the plug could have gone bad or corroded.

No I don't use car play. I use Android Auto occasionally and have a 128gb flash drive in one of the ports. When I first installed the console the flash drive would only work in the left port but the Android Auto worked in either. I received the USB device not responding popup a few times but it would normally go away and everything would work like it had been. But one day I got it and I could no longer get it to recognize my flash drive or Android Auto. I changed the hub and have had no issues since. Reads in either port now.
