building basically the same truck wanting to keep like for like.. yet the payment has increased and residual has decreased.
we are talking almost $200 a month.
anyone else experiencing similar? I am using the same dealership, same sales guy and he has shown me the math...
really considering buying out the residual and keeping the 2015.
I am a simple guy XLT, 4x4, V8, Tailgate step, 36 gallon tank, 40/console/40

That seemed to be what I saw when I shopped for my 17' compared to my buddy's 2015. He got a Lariat 501A with sunroof and that, and the MSRP was high $40k, leased out for around $425 or so.
My 2017, XLT, 302A no sunroof but a bunch of other options had an MSRP of almost $51k and leased out around $450/mo, no money down in both situations except first payment.
Ford has increased the MSRP on these trucks about every 6 months, it makes a big difference in the end. Only thing I don't know about for you is residual. When the '18s came out, a Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 had a 62% residual, which is super good regardless of make or model.

Not speaking from experience, but I've read that Ford (and others too) has been trying to discourage leasing by not incentivizing it as much as purchasing. Apparently auto makers have been getting screwed on leasing the last few years.

Smart play is to buy out the lease on the 2015 truck. Emotional play is to get a shiny new 2018. I think about the sales tax which is going to be more than $3500 (buy or lease) and consider whether it is better to doing something else with that money.
