Undercoating noise reduction
Hey guys, question for my fellow northerners and anyone that undercoats their truck: I recently got my 2020 XLT a couple months ago and I’m going to undercoat it before next winter (too late to do it now), I’ve read that undercoating reduces road noise and cabin sound quite a bit, except for me that’s a bad thing because I just installed a borla muffler on it and it sounds heavenly. I’m not too keen on making it quieter but I also don’t want my frame to rust. Anybody here have an exhaust upgrade and also undercoats regularly? Do you notice a difference in sound?
I undercoated my truck with the black coating from Rust Check. I never noticed it muffling out the sound of my exhaust. Granted I went the cheap route and did a muffler delete. I heard it just fine. Never noticed much of a difference. Then again I always have my heavy metal cranked in the truck while driving.
Exhaust noises come from the rear of the truck, not through the floorboards. Undercoating will help marginally with road noise, but probably not enough to notice and certainly won't affect the exhaust.
