It's a fabric type material. I'm at 50k and no issues. The issues come from oil change boys at the shop.

I did the oil change on our 2015 yesterday and at 9 years and 125k miles the transmission diaper is finally going in the trash since the front corner tore off when I was removing it. At least it didn’t happen while driving and having to deal with getting it off on the road somewhere.

If it happened while driving you'd never know it, until the next time you looked and noticed it was missing.

Not a direct replacement. Have to go with a metal skid plate from Ford Off Road packages or aftermarket.

Default Confirmed Post #2 and thanks

Just confirming the Raptor metal guard, bolts and nuts linked from Post # 2 Is a perfect fit on a 2020 XLT. I too squirted it with rubber undercoating prior to installation. The saggy sorry OEM felt shield is out with the garbage. Total cost for parts $206 including shipping and tax.

Got myself some new Rhino ramps to make access even faster.

I'm quite glad to have found this thread.

QUOTE=SpencerPJ;7564569]Post #13 is p/n for a steel version that works. There are some very nice aftermarket ones as well (bit pricy imo) This topic is as ugly as an oil thread. I too like the shield for added protection against some wires below, and hides the cats a little. Others feel it is unnecessary and comical to consider. Thankfully my 4 year old, 50k diaper is still in perfect shape, must be because I do my own oil changes and take care of it.

Please share where to get/order the metal replacement. I'm on my second fiber splash guard & needing to replace, only because of the notorious oil leak from the oil pan.

Joseph
I am curious as to what you came up with as a solution to the fiberboard splash guard replacement.

I've already gone through two of them & need a third one at 166,000 miles on my 2018 F150 2WD

I am looking into an option with Talon Garage out of Houston https://talonsgarage.com/
