Default Two inline straight through mufflers?

I did a mufffler swap on my 18 5.0 to a Magnaflow 14419. Kept everything else stock. Sounds great but could sound greater. The guys at the exhaust shop recommended changing to a “competition resonator” instead of just deleting the resonator. Said it will keep the deep rumble instead of just making it louder and raspy. I can’t find squat online for a competition resonator, so my guess is it is just a straight through muffler like the Magnaflow bullet, maybe smaller. I also asked about using a Dynomax mini bullet as a resonator and the guy said they do so little it would be better to just do a delete and replace with straight pipe since the mini bullets do so little. So maybe use a second bullet inline with the Magnaflow?

Any recommendations? I like the Magnaflow sound, just want more of it. Truck sounds great but is just a tad tame for what I want. Still don’t want anything obnoxious or outrageous, just a little bit more than what the muffler swap got me. Thanks

i'm wondering by the time you're done experimenting you might end up spending the same as a full catback exhaust. Its going to be hard for people to suggest what pieces of the puzzle will sound good as most just bought a full system. Then you have to add in the fact that people's exhaust taste are very very different.

Straight pipes sound great.

I've been thinking about doing the same. I have a dual exit MBRP catback (5.0) which I think has gotten louder over the last few years. I like the sound/tone but I would like to turn the volume down a little bit.

I put a Magnaflow 19203 system on mine and resonator delete, it's a little loud so I'm going to try adding a small bullet resonator in the mid-pipe to tone it down a bit.

ON my last 5.0 I installed 3'' pipe starting at the flange, went into a vibrant performance stainless resonator, then more 3'' pipe into a magnaflow 21'' case muffler then reused the factory tailpipe. That gave me a true 3'' catback for about $250 and sounded great.

This is the resonator I used.

That's the same style and brand I got, but the shorter version. I don't want to tone it down much, just a little bit less obnoxious. It might not be enough...Will see.

I don't know that it so much toned it down, but it had almost zero rasp to it. Was a deep mellow tone
