Question Turned while in 4x4 on pavement...damage???

Hi, I am a first time truck owner- 2017 F150 XLT with 3.5L ecoboost. Never driven 4x4 before and wasn't given any education by the dealership when I bought it. Anyway, took my lady out for a spin, roads were snowy, so I put it into 4x4h. We pulled into a parking lot (which was plowed) and as I was pulling into a spot, the wheels started to bind. I had never experienced this before, so made another 5-6 slow turns, experiencing the binding each time, not knowing what was going on.

I now know this is a bad idea to turn the vehicle on pavement after doing some research.

My question is - did I do any long term damage to my truck, and is there anything I can do to help minimize any damage caused, like wheel alignments or anything like that?

Appreciate the help!

No, you did no damage.

In the future, don't turn in a parking lot with 4X4 on pavement

Read your manual.

Unlikely that you did any major long term damage........to minimize I often take my truck out of 4x4 for parking (even on snowy parking lots) just to reduce the stresses/binding (and it turns sharper/smoother).

No damage, just the nature of the beast of the drivetrain binding up in turns. I also take mine out when parking to minimize the binding up when turning sharp. It will do this on loose surfaces (dirt, gravel, etc) too it just will make the tires slip when it does.

It’s fine. I do highly recommend sitting down and reading your manual though.

Like they said, not likely any damage. You CAN damage parts doing that but it isn’t going to happen from a few times. Plus usually the type of damage that would be caused from doing that (broken axles, CV joints, etc.) would come with a loud noise followed by a tow truck call. If your truck is fine now you didn’t hurt anything.
