Default Turbo issue

Has any one had any issues with their turbos on the 2.7L EB? Someone tried to tell me they had one replaced because it went out and the dealership said it was a common problem. It was on a 2016 F-150 by the way with 70k miles.

That dealer is FOS. It's not a common problem.

Not common at all, especially on the 2.7.

That's what I thought. It's a guy I work with wife's truck and he said the smoking has been going on for a little bit. I asked the dealer I go to and they said they have never replaced a turbo either. How much would it cost to replace a turbo anyway? It's a certified F-150 so it cost them $100, the total bill was over $1300.

Smoking where? Out the exhaust or at the turbo? Smoke at the turbo could be something simple like an oil or coolant line. Exhaust most likely not turbo related.

So I got more information about the truck from her today. She took the truck in because it smoked from the exhaust at start up, no matter what time of the day she started it. She sent me a copy of the bill. They charged $818 for the turbo, $178 for the tube assembly and every bolt nut and gasket to. The total came to just over $1800, I thought it was $1300.
