Default Tuners

I am thinking about getting a tuner for my truck. It's a 2016 with the 2.7L Ecoboost.
What are the best tuners to get, just to get a little more out of the motor without going crazy.

Thanks

5 star and MPT are always brought up the most. Depending on the tune, 5 star may be a little more conservative which isn't a bad thing for longevity. 5 star even offers a warranty with their tunes which shows how much they stand behind them.

I have 5 star tunes in my 13 F150, only ran the 87 per/tow tune and it was night and day vs stock.

I had a 2019 ranger and got the livernois tuner for it. Really woke the motor up. Sold it and got a 2020 3.5 F-150, sent the tuner back to livernois and they updated it for the new engine for no charge. They have a ‘soft shift’ option for the tranny that isn’t as firm as the normal tunes, which makes my daily driving comfortable. Not sure how it compares HP wise to the other tuners? Really good customer service too.

I've been running the stock turns from SCT on my 2016 2.7 for a year or so now. I tried the 93 one just because, but the 87 tune seems to be the best all around. It's a nice bump in power and I can run the 85 or 87 in it without any issues. I am considering getting a few of the custom tunes from 5 star just because, but it's low on my list.

Are the tunes free from SCT?
I would just like to use the 87 one, nothing crazy. Not doing an exhaust, have a K&N intake system..........and that's it.

Custom tunes are lightyears beyond the canned SCT tunes. Not only for where they make power, but mainly for the transmission shifting.

I did a CAI too. Also have a I/C, and cut a MagnaFlow muffler into the stock 3" exhaust. The I/C is a pinch point and the muffler helped wake up that motor. I had a local speed shop tune it.

It dyno'd at 432 hp @ 4600 rpm. It only gets 91+ and every once in a while I mix some 100 octane racing fuel to run a tank of 95 or 96 octane.

I do several long distance trips. Out in the desert it is a monster. No speed limiter & V-rated tires. On grades the only limit is ECT. It also has some rear end upgrades so it destroys the road and is a blast to drive.

If I baby it I can get 22-23 mpg. That's no more than 75 mph with no big grades. Usually I average around 20. Less out in the desert when I make good use of the radar locator.

You've got plenty left in the tank.

I saved a little money by purchasing a refurbished BDX from 5Star along with 3 tunes. 87 Tow/Perf, 93 Pef, and Trans only. No issues updating the device. It was in great shape, looked new basically. I have not had any issue with the device or tunes.

I bought a used N-guage locally and tunes from MPT. I have run both a 93 performance/tow and 93 PRX, both are impressive but the PRX tune is crazy.

Both 5Star and MPT have very good reputations for creating safe and very good performing tunes for the ecoboost engines.
