Dealer Negotiation

Dealer Negotiation
How much room do dealers have in negotiating when ordering new models, i.e. a 2016. If my dealer says he can't negotiate on an order for a 2016, it he just nicely saying he won't? How much profit do dealers make on new trucks ordered from the factory, is it 5%, 10%, 30% or what. Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Derek

What incentive do salesmen have to make deals on new year releases for high-demand, highly-popular vehicles? None.
Basically, 2016's are just out for order...there's no reason for any dealership to make a deal. They're going to sell whether he sells it to you or something else.

I had a teacher do this when shopping for a new vette back in the day and i bet it will work today. Write a letter to a bunch of dealerships telling them what u want and how much you will pay. Wait for a response. If they are hungry enough thats an easy sell for them

They can sell you the truck for $1 if they wanted to. Nothing says they *can't*. When I ordered my 2015 I ran into dealers that said they just absolutely couldn't sell for less than MSRP so I just moved on. Eventually you'll find one that'll sell it to you at the price you want.
The dealers make "holdback" which is 3% of the MSRP, so if they sell it to you at "invoice" they're still making money. Some people think invoice is literally what the dealer pays for the car which is not the case. If they manage to sell at MSRP (which they do, to people that are lazy/clueless/desperate) their profit could be > 10%.
