Default Tune with J2534 PC interface

Does anyone simply offer their performance tune with PC software and license? I have an SAE J2534 compliant interface and it should theoretically be able to reflash the truck with the appropriate software. I'd rather utilize that as opposed to buying a standalone reflashing tool.

I think they do that to prevent the software finding it's way into the "public domain". With a tuner they can control to who and how far the tune goes.

perhaps, but the OEMs are able to manage their reflashing by licencing without too much issue. Not sure why the aftermarket couldnt as well. Roush also seems to offer their tune with their own PC software and license but it's only available with the package of intake and exhaust.

None that I have seen. A vendor forcing their own device also keeps support overhead low. If they let everyone use their own adapters and computers, they now have hundreds of thousands of possible configurations to support.

Youd be surprised at how many people with a 15 year old laptop running Windows XP still expect it to be supported like they bought it yesterday.

Default I know HP tuners has a forum where guys shares flashes.

I am looking at doing the same with my Autel IM608. I can use the j2534 but can also use the eeprom reader and hex editor to replace the binary code.
