Hello all, I have recently purchased a 2018 f150 3.5 eco boost with 130k. After 3 days of ownership I have a p0018 and p0021 code. Took the truck to a local mechanic who hooked it to his laptop, truck was showing major differences between the desired and actual timing degree and was running very rough. We cleared the codes and the truck immediately ran fine. Could this be cam phasers/ timing chains or something else? I would think if it was phasers or chains it would be an issue no matter if the light was on or not.

 

give it time and the codes probably will come back. Sounds like a timing job is in order
