Default Transmission shift question

In certain conditions when you step on the gas the rpms jump like the transmission just downshifted but the gear did not change. Usually tied to boost increasing. Is this some kind of function in the torque converter? Transmission running fine in all modes. Not familiar with this type of operation. I'm sure somone on this forum can explain what's going on. Thanks.

Converter unlocking when nearing threshold for down shifting, normal.

Also look at TSB for harsh shift. Had it done on mine had a big difference.

Default Transmission does not shift correctly

My 1998 Expedition Eddie Bauer with 5.4L engine will not "half shift" or whatever the torque converter shift is called when I accelerate. It completely skips the converter shift and shifts directly from overdrive to third, or third to second. It also skips the converter shift when up shifting. What causes this? Is it something I can do or replace? Thank you.

Mine does the same thing. I think it's the torque converter un-locking.

This may help explain what you are feeling...which is normal.

Thanks for the video. However I think that my converter is not unlocking anymore. Is there a fix for this?
