Transmission Question
I have a question of what the dealership might have done when my truck was in for repairs. It’s a 2017 F150 Lariat ecoboost which needed a new starter. It just died in my driveway and could not be started. I checked the battery, etc and everything was good. So it had to be flat bedded to the dealership. Fortunately I have Ford ESP plan so my total cost was 100 bucks. While it was there it also had a recall for the master brake cylinder which they also fixed. OK so now here’s my question. Before going in for repairs it shifted OK! Not perfect but not bad enough for to bother taking it in. When I got it back I immediately noticed it now shifted super smooth and walked through each gear quickly. Almost like it was in Sport mode but it wasn’t. I checked the Sport mode and it was the same as always.
So my question is what did the dealership do that made the tranny shift like silk and walk through the gears like it really should have done from the start? They obviously did something but I can’t get a straight answer from them. Please note I’m not complaining but just curious as to what they did to make it shift so much better. I can only think they reflashed it and didn’t say anything to me. This is first time since I’ve owned it that it shifts silky smooth and quickly through the gears in regular mode. When you’re driving just a small amount of throttle will cause it to smoothly down shift. Really strange….

Likely had the battery disconnected which reset the transmission adaptations. This has been reported to increase shifting quality. It will probably go back to bad in a few weeks or months.
Well I sure hope it stays just the way it is... It shows the tranny can work nicely!!!
