Default Transmission filter

I have just called my local Ford dealer to get a price for servicing the transmission with fluid and filter change. I was informed that the transmissions do not have filters. Has anyone else ran into this for a 2016 F-150? Seems odd that there would not be a filter in the transmission

I'm having the fluid changed on my 2016 next Tuesday. They are expecting a filter to be there and have already ordered it. They had to get it directly from Ford because they could not find any aftermarket filters. Either not made (doubt it) or not available due to parts shortage (probably the case). It's not cheap.

Very true.

I know Ford does make transmissions that don't have filters and the pan on those are on the side. If on the bottom, it has a filter. However, I highly doubt Ford put any of those non-filter transmissions in the F150 but, I suppose it is possible. Unlikely though.

I would find a new Ford dealership before I had the work done.

I have checked with a local transmission shop that says they have everything including the filter and they are quoting $325 which doesn’t seem bad these days

I guess it depends on what you consider not that bad of a price. I do a pan drop and filter for less than $100 in about an hour. but, if a person has more money than time, no ability or desire to, or can't physically do it, then $325 would be reasonable.

I had my local Ford Dealer do mine
Right at 300.00 for trans service, including fluid, additive, filters, there are more than 1 filter

I replaced my transmission fluid and filter, but a dealership cannot do the work for $100.
My costs: 8 qts. fluid - $72, new gasket $18, & new filter $28 = $118 parts only

EDIT: Unrelated to the OPS topic but a similar issue. I checked with my service department to compare a radiator flush and refill with my cost to buy two gallons of concentrate. Dealer: $189.95 My Cost: $55 (coolant)
It is worth $135 to avoid three or more drains and refills to empty the system and refill with yellow coolant.
