Default Trans Pan Recommendation

I'm looking for easy drain/fill tras fluid changes on my 15 5.0 Lariat. My last F150 was a 2004 5.4 3V and I added a PML cover. It was a lot easier with the trans dip tube to add fluid. Once the PML was installed easy as pie. At least with the 15 I can get things "easier" with a drain. I dont need to change the filter every time but if I crack the OEM pan I have to change gaskets or risk a leak.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Is the 6R80 pan gasket reusable, or only the 10R80?

You may want to look into a fluid extractor. The trans fluid is so thin that it extracts very fast. I too was dreading the fluid change but sucked out 4.5 quarts of fluid in probably 2-3 minutes. It's honestly more work adding fluid back in than extracting.

Added some gradations on the extractor so I know exactly how much I remove, and add back in the same amount. Checked the level at operating temp per service manual and it was spot on.

You have a valid point.

I know you were asking about a new pan but I just thought I would mention it... Of course drain plugs would be easier and I wish Ford was like Toyota and there were drains on the differentials and trans pan. There is even a super simple built in overflow tube method on the Tacoma for setting the trans fluid level.

This is what I ended up buying. I've used it more than I expected (lawnmower, front diff, trans, power steering on another vehicle).

I thought the level checking procedure on the 10R80 right next to the catalytic converter was going to be a disaster but it was ok.

I have a Mighty extractor and its a solid unit. I'm just trying to make this as simple as possible. Wanted to hear from you guys.

BlueFlamzz13 - I will be installing the B&M trans stick kit soon and will do a post on it. Last time I checked my level (about a year ago) I used a pair of silicon heat gloves but I was having a hard time getting a reading (I don' t have a lift - car was on a set of 4 ramps) and one glove was getting too hot to wear - I took it off thinking I would be super careful - stupid me. Burned that wrist really bad. Still have a small scar from it. Never again.

6R80 pan gasket is reusable. Mine has been off three times for filter/fluid changes.
