Default Trans Fluid Level

I have a 2019 5.0 and the trans has been slipping for the past few weeks only when its cold. I checked the fluid and it looks a little below the 6 mark to me. Does this look low enough to cause cold shifting issues? Thanks

Was this reading taken at operating temperature (~200degF)?

code P07F6-00 indicates a 9th gear error in the 10R80 transmission. This code is often associated with harsh engagements, poor shift quality, and potential loss of 9th gear. It is commonly found in 2017-2020 F-150, 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator/Mustang, and 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles equipped with the 10R80 transmission.

Possible Causes:
  • Software Issues:
The transmission's adaptive calibration may not be compatible with the hardware break-in, leading to incorrect shifting.
  • Valve Body Issues:
Sticking valves in the main control valve body can cause shifting problems.
  • Solenoid Issues:
The transmission solenoid ID strategy or electrical issues with the solenoids can also trigger the code.
  • Clutch Cylinder Issues:
Axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder sleeve can lead to gear ratio errors.
  • Internal Transmission Failure:
Internal problems within the transmission itself can also cause the error.

Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. 1. Check for other DTCs:
If other transmission-related codes are present, diagnose and address them first.
  2. 2. Reprogram the TCM and PCM:
Using the latest software, reprogramming the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may resolve the issue.
  3. 3. Inspect and potentially overhaul the valve body:
Replace or repair any faulty components in the valve body.
  4. 4. Perform an adaptive learning drive cycle:
This allows the transmission's computer to relearn the unique parameters of the transmission.
  5. 5. Consider a transmission rebuild or replacement:
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, a more extensive repair or replacement may be necessary.

Look in the owners manual. It will show proper hot level on the stick. It looks low to me, which could cause a slip issue. my 2012 has a different stick. Get it corrected stat, it might cure the slip. Only one way to find out.

The trans slipping cold is not helping longevity
