Default Tranny issue...

I have a 2017 F-150 XLT super crew with the 5.0 engine and 6 speed tranny. After around 9k miles, the truck would make a loud clunk and jerk going down my driveway. After coming to a stop, the transmission would shift to 5 then 3 and stay stuck in 3rd gear. I would shift to park and back into drive, same thing, it would go to 5 back to 3 and stay there. After turning ignition off and restarting, it then would be back in 1st. This has happened 4 times on different occasions and the dealer say they can't duplicate after 3 times there. I'm about to send Ford a letter, any thoughts?

Thanks

Welcome to the site.

There is a issue with clunking on the 6speeds. Does it do it right away in the morning? Does it do it consistently? Maybe have it parked overnight at the dealership if it does it in the morning.

Also, can you take a video of it? Maybe find a new dealership if this one won't work with you.

Default Thanks for the reply

The 3 times I had it at the dealer, they always had it for a minimum of 2 days trying to duplicate the issue. Of course I wasn't shocked at this because the 4 times it's happened has been sporatic. I can say that all 4 times has been going down my driveway though. The 1st and 2nd occurrence was in Nov. 2016 that happend a week apart. The 3rd time was in Jan. and 4th and most recent was a couple weeks ago. I did take video of the last 2 times on my cell and showed it to service. The last time I picked up the truck, they told me that the truck has to "stay broke" before they can fix it? I may try another dealer, see what they say. I just don't want to end up with a 50k truck that doesn't know what gear I should be in.

Default Thanks for the info...

Service said they didn't get any codes, but it makes me wonder if I could hook a reader to it while it's stuck in 3rd if it would show some codes. Did your's throw any codes? I never know when it'll do it again, maybe tomorrow maybe next month, I guess time will tell. I'll check into that OSS sensor though. Stuff like this just takes the enjoyment out of owning a new truck.
