Default Trailer hookup question

I just bought a new 76x14 trailer to pull my atv's and every time I hook up the lights on it I get a message on my screen that says trailer connected and starts counting miles which I would expect if I had trailer brakes. I can squeeze the trailer brake controller all the way and it pops up and says trailer disconnected and stops counting. Any ideas what may be wrong.

I'm not sure it matters whether or not your trailer has brakes.

It's counting the miles you've towed a trailer. Period. If you did have different trailers, with differing setups, you could save them to the system, and it would let you count how many miles you've towed each of your trailers. Since you only have one, it counts against just the one.

I may be wrong though. I've not tried the sliding the brake controller thing all the way to the left. Interesting observation.

On my 2013 it only popped up that I had a trailer on when I hauled anything with trailer brakes so I guess that is what I was expecting on the new truck as well.
