2018 F150 towing RV. Message on dash showing trailer disconnect with a flash of Trailer brake gain at 0 but trailer lights still work. Checked connection, the trailer is connected in park then start moving, same error message of disconnect. Stop and reverse, trailer connects intermittent. Checked connections, look ok, Once disconnect message is on when moving there is no reconnect. Sometimes trailer brake works weakly with no trailer detected. Had trailer checked at an RV dealer and seems to not be issue. Went to Ford Delaer and replaced Ford part for the truck female trailer connector with no improvement. LEDs still work.
Any ideas?

I have the same intermittent problem with 2019 3.5 Lariat, Dealer replaced the Female connector still have the same problem.
What the the ID # for that TSB?

 

Update: Had Ford do a full diagnostic and the issue is not with the truck. Only one of 4 brakes on dual axle trailer were engaging. Ford Truck is sensitive to brakes in trailer disconnect issue and therefore disconnecting from trailer due to only one brake engaging. Having trailer rewired.
Will update if that fixes this issue.

 

A follow up would be great, would like to know when done, will the trailer brakes completely lock up? Mine does not even at the full setting. aand that is when I get the trailer disconnect warning.

 

How about a trailer dealer?

 

Did it remain working after the update which for some reason my Ford dealership doesn't no of any update. I hope it remained working because the dinging drives me nuts at times and my breaks hardly have any stopping power

 

i’m running a 2014 Ford F150 eco-boost FX 4 I recently totaled a Jeep on a U-Haul trailer and the gains/ braking seem to work but when I applied the manual breaking lever it would flash at a certain point never consistently it would flash trailer disconnected but would not actually be disconnected and would show in the gains meter when the brake was applied but it never fully locked up the brakes on the trailer when doing the testing just like it says to do. it would just automatically say disconnected anybody got a answer for that or have a similar problem ?
