Just to give an update on what I have found or doing. I have an appointment this coming Friday with the dealership. I talked with the gal that runs there service department and she said they had a couple ways to test the controller. I explained to her that when its static or just sitting there with the trailer it all works and they may have to take it for a test drive to get it to do anything, but this way I will be able to confirm it is or is not the pickup..

Keep in mind some trailers have the ground wire grounded to the trailer itself vs the ground wire in the 4 or 7 pin plug and use the trailer hitch to ball as the ground connection. If there is any rust on either or both it can cause a loss of continuity triggering the lost connection message. Has happened to me in the past. Inspect the inside of the coupler and ball and clean if needed. This may solve the problem. If your trailer is wired this way you could also change it to use the ground wire in the plug. This is of course if there are no problems with the controller as stated before. Good luck.

They ended up replacing the 4/7 pin connector on the truck

Hi meganjoe,

Let me know how your truck does after you have the chance to drive it around a bit; I'll be here.

Hello all,

Just an update. I had the truck into the dealership today and they checked it all out. Brake controller and the trailer plug in the bumper. Well they said it all checked out fine and my problem must be in my trailer. So this weekend I will tear into the trailer and see if I can find the problem.

Well the dealer called and said it was fixed ..I went to pick up my truck and trailer and made it about 10' and the "Trailer Disconnected" came up on the screen.. So, they finally did what I asked them to do in the first place.. Hook up my trailer to a different truck.. Went a few feet and "Trailer Disconnected" came up again.. Must be the trailer ..Right??

I looked at everything I could think of on the trailer.. So next week I'm taking the truck and trailer to a camper/trailer dealer ...

I'll let you know what they find...

Bottom line is I don't think it's the truck..

OK, so the Camper/Trailer Dealer says it's the truck.. If he adds another magnet to the brake system the truck will recognize the Brake Circuit as normal.. Remove and it says "Trailer Disconnected" .. He says it's in the parameters of the truck's computer.. So, I went back to the dealer and they say the truck is working "as designed"..

Did anyone ever get there issues resolved?

I'm fighting with my brake controller on my 2015 F150 5.0 now with my dealership. I tow all the time, 18" dovetail car hauler. Traded in my 2010 for the 2015 as I needed more towing power. My 2010 had a Tekonsha Primus IQ that I installed and it worked great. No issues with the trailer brakes. Got the new 2015 and the brake controller has not worked since day one.

I tried to tow using the new truck a week after I got it and constantly got the trailer disconnect warnings. Truck has been to the dealership 4 times now. First couple of times they kept saying the truck was fine and to check my trailer. I replaced the entire harness from the connector back to the brake including the junction box. No help at all. Took the truck back to the dealership and again they try to tell me the truck is fine. I argued and went to the service manager. Told them him what was going on, told them about the SSM updates I found on here, etc. They looked into it and finally decided to flash it to the latest version. I get home and hook up the trailer and no trailer brakes, but I also have no alerts. When I use the manual slider it just states no trailer connected even though the main display states my saved trailer is hooked up.

What I did find was interesting is that f I switch the setting from "Electric" brakes over to "Electric/Hydraulic" then it works, I just don't have the full power as the standard Electric brakes put out.

Anyone have any thoughts or know a solution?
