Default Trailer Brake Controller

I have a 2018 with the Integrated brake controller. Just this past weekend it is giving problems. When I hit the gain plus, the gain goes down. Either button makes it go down. It doesn’t matter if the trailer is connected or not. Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks for the help.

OEM Ford controller, or 3rd party knockoff? Also, did you check for any codes?

I always have to check my typing before I press Submit.

IF 3rd party controller, THAT is most likely your problem. Get a Ford one and be done with it and happy towing.

I actually have the factory OEM. I have had no issues until now. I have not scanned for codes. Was on my list of things to do today after changing brakes and rotors.

Not common, but could simply have failed. If that's the case, oem only. Good luck, I'd likely start with a basic unplug, replug hoping for a poor connection.
