Default Traction Lock

My 2015 has the rear end lock feature. From what I read here it automaticly disengages at 25 mph. What disengages it ? The ECM, the rear end itself? Can it be adjusted to stay engaged longer?

Its an electronic locker. The tires will chatter in a turn as the wheels are locked to each other. Regular Posi's will let one tire slip in a turn...less chance of the rear sliding out in a wet/low traction turn. Different posi's have different biases as to how much load is on the inside tire in a turn, the locker has no bias, they are locked. When the locker releases the tires are fully free to change speed in turns...less chance of a spin out. I think the locker is only for low traction conditions when you are trying to get moving.

I'm afraid you completely missed his question....and When a high HP rig with a relatively light rear-end makes a hard launch, that is a low-traction condition.

OP, I cannot answer you question beyond it is programmed to disengage. But I am very curious as I would be interested in upping the mph of the auto-disengage also.

I remember seeing this done on the pre-2015 F-150s back when I had my 2012, but don't remember how they did it. I feel like it was an easy workaround back then, something like just shorted a wire or something that kept it from receiving notice that the truck was over 25.

this... it's electrically locked. So there will be a relay somewhere that the ECU and advantrac manage. You could disable your speed sensor, so it keeps it locked, or trace the wiring to whatever energizes the circuit and add your own switch to keep it engaged.

Found it, a guy even made a custom module to make it work properly without burning out the ELD coil.

The basics of it is that there is a wire that feeds 12v to the ELD coil that engages the ELD. After that it should drop to 40% duty cycle to prevent burning out the coil. That's how our normal switch works (probably hasn't really changed in 2015+).

Some people just went and cut the wire and ran a new one that they could switch on 12v constant hot so it didn't turn off above 25MPH, but as mentioned that puts extra wear on the coil. If you are electrically inclined enough, or if that guy is still making that custom module and it works with 2015+, you should be able to work around the Ford nanny.
