Tracking Thread!! VIN's with Build Dates
Dealers can take an order they had submitted for stock and change it to a customer pre-sold unite to save time, as long as it hasn't gotten too far along the order process and it is the same type truck. You cannot change an XLT 2wd to a King Ranch 4X4 for example. Orders can be tweaked up till they hit their build week, then nothing can be changed.
The order number you got is unique to your order and that can not be changed once received by Ford, It can be deleted.
A dealer has to have an allocation before their order can be accepted and scheduled. They can still submit orders without allocations just won't be accepted and scheduled till they get the allocations.
I have seen many folks order a vehicle and start waiting but the order did not actually get accepted till a month later. One reason they could never find their order on Cotus using order number and dealer code.

Hmm. I just thought it's funny that my salesman said my truck will be pulled into build cycle tomorrow. But doesn't have the order number till Thursday. I asked him if any chance order "T430" was modified for mine. Right now it is on 2.7 Eco. I ordered 3.5 Eco. I guess it's heck of coincidence to have pretty much everything exact same except for engine and missing wheel liner. Waiting confirmation from salesman. Plus I can always watch that Cotus at 10pm and see if it changed.

Dealer is 48V589. T430 isn't mine per se. I just happened to came across it. And it was heavily identical. Only difference is mine is 3.5 Eco and wheel liner added. Everything else is same on that T430 order. max trailer, fx4, grey leather, 502A, 20" PVD, all weather mats. magnetic paint. I have not receive the official order number yet from salesman. And T430 showed Oct 22 delivery date. Salesman placed order today and told me it'll be pulled for build cycle tomorrow (I presume going into production state). Thought it was unusual for an order to go into build cycle next day.
Hey CurryBob, is it common practice for a dealer to modify an existing dealer order and change into custom order for customer to cut in the line? I played around with COTUS and found one order that is closely identical to my order except for engine/accessory. It was placed 8/15 but been in "In process" ever since. Reason I asked because my order has grey leather which is RARE around here. Could it be the dealer modify the order for mine or it's heck of coincidence?

When you get a real order number from them, you can use it and the dealer code on Cotus will be F48589 for the dealer. Ford uses a different order for dealer codes. You just remove any letters in their code and put an F in front. You can use that to check on Cotus till you get a VIN and you will see the VIN in Cotus and can start using that to track you progress.

Yep, he is feeding you a line or is confused. He probably doesn't do the ordering for that dealer.

He probably is, just don't plan on seeing a build date show up for awhile on Cotus. They usually sit in order processing for a 1-2 weeks or more. Unless you have a very high priority, 2 weeks is the norm to site in "order processing" when things are normal. Those of us that ordered back in late May, June, July sat in "order process" till sometime in Aug. That was because it was the beginning of a new MY.

On the move! The delivery estimate hasn't changed, but I'm hoping it gets bumped up. Do I understand correctly that the date shown in each block shows when the step was completed? If so, that means the "Awaiting Shipment" phase was actually competed on September 8th; 4 days ago. Nothing showing on the JCT palsapp site, other than "pending".
