Tracking Thread!! VIN's with Build Dates
From what I've seen with my own truck, its a total crap shoot. I ordered 12/7/17, scheduled delivery date of 3/718, I'm a week away and the truck is still "awaiting shipment."

Six days out from delivery. I asked my inventory manager is she was still seeing my truck on the legendary “Ramp 59”.
“Sadly yes…….However! Don’t despair! On several occasions ….I’ve had the status updates go stale like that, and they just show up on my doorstep!
(My Ford rep will be here tomorrow….I’ll have him check and see if it’s really just sitting there, and if so-he can get it moving….)“

I have seen people post here that they went from awaiting shipment to in transit within a few hours....all depends on how and where they are shipping it....could sit there waiting shipment for a week or more.

My dealership doesn't have the ability or doesn't know how to track rail shipments apparently.

Here is the thing though. Ford is building 1200 or more F-150s a day at Dearborn. They CANT ship that many out by the loading ramps they have at the factory. I saw several car carriers in the holding lots loading trucks on them. I doubt ALL of them were going to dealerships close enough to not need rail transport. They have to truck some out to offsite ramps to be able to get all the trucks out a day they have to move by rail. That is why some people who you know are going to have their trucks come by rail car have convoy on their stickers. I will include some pics I took of the holding area's when I was at the factory yesterday.

Unfortunately I didn't have a good viewpoint of the ramps to get any pics but if you look at the factory in google maps satellite view you can see rail cars at the ramp and them loading trucks on them
I checked in weekly, with updates down to 48 days before delivery then poof, disappearing act on number of days remaining for delivery on COTUS website.
I wont be ready for it until mid April or even early May, I scheduled time away with the later date in mind. Just a curiosity as to there methods, and I'll bet we will never know the simple or complex system they use. But it does seem to generate confusion to me...
