So I looked at the spread sheet today and checked who has a built truck already. One pattern emerged. They're all 3.5 Eco's and the only 5.0L with a build date start around the 8th of december. I had a feeling that even though they built a lot of trucks, they must have had something big in common that makes them all get built at once and that's the 3.5 ecoboost.

That does make some sense as the 3.5EB was already in the pipeline without another major offering in their product line drawing on the supply. Ford has been producing many 5.0 Mustangs which may be affecting the availability of the 5.0 engines for the F150. 2.7 liter is new and likely doesn't have inventory built up anywhere. Nobody cares or wants a 3.5NA engine except El Cheapo fleets and business owners for the units they give to entry level probationary employees that might not make the grade at the company!

I read a few weeks ago that the Lima engine plant was only making 80 2.7's a day until after the first of the year when they would be a full production of that engine but don't know the daily output numbers.

My 2.7 was ordered 8/11 and built the week of 10/27.. 4X2 supercrew lariat..

Now that winter is here, the kids keep asking me when it will be delivered. They just want the heated rear seats! ha

All of the initial production is technically "dealer stock", so it makes sense that they are mostly producing the Lariats, KRs, and Plats as these represent the highest relative profit margin.
