Default TPMS warning

I found a set of winter rims and tires for a pretty good deal, only problem is they dont have TPMS sensors. I can take them off and have some installed but that will add another $200 ish which makes the deal not so good. My question is whats going to happen to my warning system? will there be a constant flashing light? Thanks in advance. i have the 18 lariat tach

You will get a warning every time you start your truck. You will be able to shut off the screen by pushing 'OK'...….every time.

Check the thread, but I'm pretty sure you can disable TPMS with Forscan. Just turn it off when the winter wheels go on.

That said, TPMS is a huge help to me. I would *gladly* drop $200 to keep it working.

Not sure if you can disable a Federally mandated safety device...

You can get a set of four sensors for about $60 on eBay (just read the listings carefully to be sure you get the right version for the truck). If you can find a cooperative tire shop, it shouldn't cost much more than that to install them (the procedure is about the same as installing new valve stems, hardest part may be finding a tire shop that's okay with you handing them TPMS sensors you sourced).

If you don't want to do that, it is an easy change with Forscan, but I like having the data available, especially in the winter (I've had valve stems freeze before, including one that had an annoying tendency to stick open after I checked the pressure, so being able to check pressure without touching the valves is a nice feature to have).
