Default Towing question

i have a new 2020 f150 with the 5.0L 6.5' box with super cab. I was towing my boat to storage for the winter and i noticed that it was only shifting as high as 8th gear. The boat and trailer only weigh 2200 lbs. I was heading into a head wind which was pretty strong but i my speed was 100 km/hr. RPMs were between 2ooo and 2500.

Is this normal to not reach top gear in these situations?

For the 5.0, yes. It needs rpm's for efficient performance. Lugging any engine is not a great idea.

7th is 1:1, 8-10 are all overdriven gears. Peak torque is at 4500 RPMs so yea 2000-2500 with a light trailer in headwind sounds normal.
