Default Towing

I just bought a 2016 xlt with a 3.5V6 w/ eco boost. I'll be towing a travel trailer at about 4,000 lbs overall (gross) weight. Wondering if anyone has experiencing towing with a similar rig. Any tips, comments, things to prepare for?

4,000# is nothing for that truck. What else will you be hauling in the truck, both the bed and cab (including passengers)?

Make sure you have a hitch receiver rated for it and it's at the correct height (trailer level with ground). Also, make sure you keep around 400# to 600# on the tongue.

Welcome to the forums, BTW. If you don't post a pic of your rig, you don't have one! LOL!

You'll have no issues. I tow 6500lbs. Speed has a huge impact on your rig's stability. I can cruise all day long at 65 with one hand on the wheel. Seems the ones that talk about "white knuckle" experiences are all going over 70.

You will do fine. As with everything, it will take a little practice, and I agree, speed is not your friend, if it is windy don't feel ashamed to go 55.

I towed a 21' OAL toy hauler--weight ~4000-4500#) thousands of miles with the 3.5EB and it is really like there's nothing (almost...) behind you.

Even if you keep your speed in the 60-65 MPH range, you will wonder where the "E" in "EB" went. Count on +/- 10 MPG. Helps marginally to lock out 10th and even 9th gear to keep from digging too deeply into the boost.
