Default Tow hook conversion

Interested in swapping to some type of shackle, for the ones who have done it....do you notice any rattling after a while, or right off? What did you end up using for shackles? If I got the "fancy" ones I would probably get the security locks but kinda concerned about the mechanism with our corrosion in the North East......any info would be helpful. Thanks, Scott

I've got this one from Rough Country on the way. Will be installing it this week along with a couple of 3/4" D rings from Quadratec. Be glad to finally replace the OEM tow hooks.

I have this kit from Rough Country. Comes with hard plastic shims that fit between shackle and mounts that eliminates any rattling. Worst part was removing the grommets the OEM thingys slide through. Wound up taking a long prybar, 3'-4', stuck one end thru the grommet and used the OEM thigy as a fulcrum. They popped right out, but destroys them.

Don't those shackles rattle like crazy when you're driving on the roads?

Truck looks great John. My OEM tow hooks are sandwiched between like some sort of plastic housing. The RC instructions make the installation of their shackle mount look like a simple bolt-on operation. Loosen the rear bolt and remove the front bolt, slide the OEM mount right out. Three-four foot pry bar!!!!!?????

Thanks Dean! I was initially trying to save those "grommets", but got a bit frustrated I guess. Maybe you're a bit more flexible than me, but that front bolt was not gonna happen with the "grommets" in there. So, yep, out came the prybar!

Nope, no rattle at all with the isolators they supply. Shackles don't even swing unless you grab them and try.

I see. I just looked at it quickly a couple days ago. I didn't know the front bolt is difficult to remove with the housing in place. Now where did I put my 4' pry bar?
