Touch screen message
On my 2016 F150 XLT Super Cab I just got a message on my touchscreen saying "System is off to save battery". I have no idea what that means, Can anyone help? That message comes on after I turn the ignition off and stays on until I open the door.
Your battery voltage is low and the system is shutting the screen down to save battery power. This is usually an early indication that your battery is getting weak. Get your battery tested including a load test. If it tests good then charge the battery with an appropriate trickle charger and this should go away.
How old is the battery? Check the voltage and get it load tested. Plus, do you do a lot of short trips? If so, take it for a good long run. The battery management system (BMS) doesn't allow the alternator to constantly charge to keep the battery topped off. So what it does is monitors the battery voltage and only turns the alternator on when it gets down to a certain level and then turns it off when it gets topped off. Assuming you drive it long enough. If you do a lot of short trips, the battery never really gets charged up. The message you are seeing is the computer shutting down non-essential systems so that it ensures there is enough juice to start the engine.
