Default Topper wiring

I have a topper id like to take off, however there is a wire that runs down underneath the bed and up front somewhere. Can I cut this wire up by the bed and put and inline connector there so that in the future so I can put it back on and hook this light up again? Will screw anything up or short anything? May be an dumb question but just trying to get the topper off.

It shouldn't effect anything by disconnecting those wires. An inline connector is a good idea, just make sure you get a dummy plug to seal off the connector that it staying on the truck so it doesn't get damaged, contaminated, or cause a future problem by shorting on a circuit. Make sure the connector you get is waterproof. If you buy two of them, you can make no into plugs to seal both halves after you separate them.

How many wires do you have? A kit like this would give you what you need and a lot more.

Mine had 2 wires, one that went straight to the battery and one that went to the drivers kick panel.

careful if it’s one pulling a constant from the battery…I’d make sure it’s not hot
