Default Tire size adaptable? - switch to snow tires and rims

Hey guys. I traded my 2011 this past July and stepped up to a 2015 FX4. Pretty soon, it will be switch over to snow tires and rims time. Both my old truck and new one have a front end level. The old had 275/70/18's for summer and winter tires. My new truck has 20's....275/65/20. Two questions....will the 18's on the winter rims fit on my truck ok and be of similar height? Also, with the tire pressure monitor sensors (TPMS) in the 18's, from my last generation truck, be compatible and work properly/communicate with my new generation truck? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Rims will fit, if you have lug nuts from your 2011, they cannot be used on your 2015.

Your 18-inch tires' diameter is 0.9 inch less than your stock 20-inch tires.

Also, your 2011 TPMS sensors will not work on your 2015.

If they new tires are stock they 55 not 65s. They will then be the same size. I use 13fx4 20" for my winters. They look good and fit.

A 275/55R20 stock tire would make the 18-inch tire 1.3 inches taller.

18 to 20 " stock sizes are very close. I have both and the speedo doesn't change. TPMS though, you need the 15+ ones that work with the pressure readout.

I got these for my 14 20" wheels.

Thank you, for doing the comparison....looks like the 18" will be slightly higher, but either way, I will need the new TPMS. If I don't replace those, I'll likely see an error message all the time, will I?

Looks like my 20" would be close to an inch taller than the 18" I have.

Usually (maybe by law), tire shops will not install a tire that's more than 3% bigger or smaller than the factory size. Your 18" would be just a little bit under 3%. Your speedometer reading will be higher than your actual speed, so at least you won't be unknowingly speeding.

If you leave the old TPMS sensors in your tires or go without, you'll likely get a warning on your display every time you start the truck.

I had my tire shop call me stating that they could reprogram the 14 sensors to 17 specs. I told them they won't work as they changed in 15. Again the said they could reprogram. I said ok give'r.
What a shock the error came up after about 15min of driving. I will be going back to set them straight.
Not a big deal to me as they didn't work for the last 2 winters either.
