Default Tire Decision

I have a 2020 F150 Screw 4x4 and its time for new tires. I had my heart set on the Michelin Defender LTX ms. Much to my dismay, I learned that they were being discontinued. I could still buy a set, but I'm worried that if I had a road hazard down the line I wouldn't be able to locate one and would end up with mismatched tread. Could anyone please suggest comparable tires ( all season, no AT). Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response. Would you buy the Defenders since they are being discontinued and I couldn't get one down the line if there was a road hazard?

I just did. Bought 4 and I have no concerns over “finding” another down the road if needed. If you’re concerned, bite the bullet and buy 2 extras now. It’s not like they’re going to disappear in the next couple years. The Defender 2 is the exact same tire with better tread life.

Stop worrying, buy ‘em.

Did they tell you what the Defender replacement tire was going to be?

The replacement is going to be the Defender MS2. It will debut later this year

Michelin's naming is confusing and counter intuitive, but I think this is it:

LTX M/S - Oldest version of this tire - not available any more.
LTX M/S2 - Replaced the original LTX M/S - Still readily available even though the Defender LTX M/S came out in 2015 and seemed like it was intended to replace this tire.
Defender LTX M/S - Current tire soon being discontinued.
Defender LTX M/S2 - Replacement for the Defender LTX M/S

Good chronology @js312.
All that being noted I don’t think (after looking) there is not much difference or changes other than compounds, which are improvements in each generation.

Personally, I have no problem running a just purchased set of LTX/ms with a LTX/ms2 if needed. They’re so close I don’t think you would notice any difference, other than looking at the tire lettering.

Oh, and PRICE!

If not Michelin consider Continentals they would be a good choice as well.
