Default Tire Comparison

Im getting close to have to replace my Michelins LTX A/T2. They're P265/70/17 Im back and forth on if i want to get the same tires or go to the BFG T/A KO 2. I've seen several different ratings for the BFG's and the one im looking at is 112/109S. Weight 44 - BFG and 42 - Michelin. You really think 2lbs is going to make a difference in, wait for it.........MPG? Yes i know if im worried about mpg i should of bought a prius.

Driving habits are 60 miles highway 5 days a week with about 4 miles in town. Winters can get some what bad and i could feel the LTX's slip a little in the snow and ice. I dont do any off roading so the BFG would be more for looks and better winter driving. I had the BFG on my pos Chevy and i loved them. LTX's on the other hand lasted 60k+ miles so thats a plus.

BFG KO's sing on the highway, I went to Cooper AT3's which don't sing. Want more choices, go here: Tire Size Calculator

2lb difference is marginal. I went from a 39lb tire to 62lb and lost 1.5 - 2 mpg.

KO2s were quite as stock. Ridge Grapplers will have a slight hum.

Michelin will beat KO2s in winter driving.

I am in a similar situation as you. My tires are about to be done with. I also drive anywhere from 60-100 miles a day. My brother in law who owns his own shop with is dad likes the copper tires. He actually recommended the Discoverer SRX to me as they will last about 70k, quiet, do well in rain and snow as well as will be a smooth ride. I myself am still thinking about the AT3 but I am concerned how they will ride and if they will wear evenly after getting some miles on them

I noticed the Kind Ranch comes with Goodyear Wrangler tires, and my Platinum with Hankook Dynapro ATMs. Which is the best comparable tire if you want the best/quietest ride, and lightest tire? Is it one of those 2, or some other one? I'm going to seldom take it off-road, so my priority is on-road performance, including MPG. No sense in wasting fuel on a heavier tire I'll never need. I usually go with Michelins or Continental, but maybe in the truck world, there're better ones. Comments welcome.
