Default Thoughts on ordering

On average it takes 8 weeks start to delivery when ordering a truck, and 18 orders were stopped on 8/10. I took a look at the calendar, and noticed that puts the last orders at the first week of October, which means they should all roll off the line no later than the 12th. The 19's aren't due to start until the third week. Does that mean that for 1 week, no trucks are built, or is that a tooling week where they do change overs for the new year? I wonder what changes would be made other than cleaning the paint tanks for the new colors. They use Just-In-time inventory, so shouldn't take long to stock the changed items, such as interior panels for the upper trims. I wonder what they do between the time the last 18 rolls off and the 19 begins.

The last 2018 F150 built at Dearborn is scheduled on October 21st. The very next truck after the last 2018 will be a 2019. It's called a rolling changeover. Same thing will happen at Kansas City, but will happen on November 4th and 5th. Paint colors can be changed on the fly.

So roughly 2 weeks of stragglers left.
