Have you replaced the plugs too? Bad plugs can cause the coils to fail prematurely. If those are original plugs at 125,000 miles they should be replaced.

Default Replaced

I replaced the plugs with an OEM set when I did the last set of coils. Maybe 20K miles ago.

Are these OEM coils or is there a chance they are “OEM” (fakes)?

The coils came in Motorcraft wrappers and have FoMoCo stamped on them.

Did you buy them from a dealership or Rock Auto?

Pirated parts in branded boxes are a know problem. True MC coils last a long time. KM

What type of failures are you having, misfires from weak spark, open/shorted primary coil circuits, no spark from failed secondary coils? How many coils have actually failed, you said you are on your third set, but are we talking about 18 failed coils in total?

First time it happened it was 1-2 coils. Next time I had to replace 4. This time….i dunno how many. My wrench replaced all 6. When I know something’s wrong is when I coming on an entrance ramp, hammer the throttle and the engine misses like hell. I can ease up to 75-80 on an interstate, but can’t power up to that level.
