on the 2015 5.0L...

If you have a block heater - yes. If you don't have a block heater - no

I do have a block heater since the cord is hanging to the right. Thanks for the reply. Hard to believe they’d leave it exposed like that.

Why? Ecoboost engines have it exposed

Are you sure about that? Every google picture of an eco shows something behind the opening.

the aftercooler is there on an Ecoboost which the naturally aspirated engines don't have but the trim is still open.

And yes, I'm sure about that.

I’m not talking about the trim. My concern is how the bottom half of the engine is exposed like that. I’m certain an air deflector is missing. There is so much air coming into the engine at highway speeds that my entire hood shakes. This can’t be normal.

I was just fixing to say..... "Your aftercooler is missing".

It's a factory defect. I've been waiting a decade and Ford still hasn't added the "boost" to the 5.0.

In my area front license plate were require up to about a year ago. Removed mine the first chance I could and mine at the time looked exactly like that. There is a small foam/rubber shield held in by clips to the backside of the bumper that has since ripped and is now covering about half the opening. I think they do it on the 5.0 so you can add a hidden winch to the standard front bumper....

It's where you are supposed to mount the supplemental intercooler radiator for your supercharger
