Default Temporary solution to frozen door latch

Got up this morning to -18C and dropping to -27C overnight.
Went out to the truck and 3 out of 4 door latches/locks were frozen and would not unlock
Luckily I was able to use one. Called the dealer and the earliest I could get my truck in was 2 weeks from now...
Anyways....Went to Canadian tire and bought some lock de-icer in a spray can and a can of snow/ice repellent.
Removed the rubber plug in the door just below the locking latch and sprayed lock de-icer inside and on the door latch. Did this to all 4 doors then went back and sprayed the snow/ice repellent inside, up, down and straight in.
Waited a few minutes and BOOM all 4 door locks working again.
Thought I'd share for anyone having the same issue.

Great job on the temporary fix. Still blows my mind that this is a known problem that won't go away years after it was originally identified.

Quick update...
Today it was -40C or -40F, Stupid cold.
Anyways, all doors and locks are still working with no issues.
If they were going to freeze today would be the day!
Cheers

Thank you for sharing your solution. It may work long longer than expected which is good. If there is a lubricant that can be lightly sprayed in annually (before winter) preventing the freezing of locks I would bet most owners would accept this over having what has been for some their doors being town apart more than once with no solution.

I am surprised after years of this being an issue that it has not been fixed. If enough people file a complaint the NHTSA would get involved and investigate since it is a safety concern when doors fly open when owners have braked.

I agree.
I think its a MAJOR safety concern that needs a permanent fix by ford.
I can see Ford setting themselves up for a huge lawsuit if someone gets injured due to these issues.

I hope enough people complain to the NHTSA (the form is easy) the government will get involved and I believe in this case it is completely justified for them to come down on Ford. I believe their eventual investigation will show there is a safety concern. Someone could die!

Sure hope they get this figured out. Really want to get an aluminum body truck but this is the primary reason I have held off.

Is there no class action law suit? I'm surprised if there is not. Both of my trucks have been repaired twice only to have it re occur.... I carry my kids in the back and nothing is worse than not being able to latch the doors.... or be able to open then
