Default Tech package add on later?

I am pretty much decided on a 2016 Lariat 4x4 502A Sport. I really want the 2.7 engine but also the Technology Package items. The tech package is listed in the order guide as not available with 2.7 engine. So my question is... are any of the parts to the technology package already present on the 501A vehicle and just enabled in software? or is hardware needed for the lane keeping system, 360 cameras and hitch assist not installed without the tech package? If the later, can any be dealer or aftermarket added? Just makes no sense I cant get a top of the line Lariat with the engine Ford wants to push the most, without sacrificing these three high tech features.

It may not make sense, but it sure is common. Other manufacturers include bigger, more powerful engines with their top trim levels too, and you can't option their smaller one. I think you'll spend way more than 905.00 adding the tech package after you buy.

just the lane keeping assist and 360 cameras would require, you guessed it, the right sensors and cameras in the right places in addition to the software. I doubt Ford throw these on every truck if you don't pay for it...

The software might be there and just needs to be turned on, but I think it would be more trouble than it's worth to try to add all the hardware on a truck that didn't come with it...

I wouldnt care for the lane-keeping crap, the standard rearview camera does a good enough job, so I guess it wouldnt be a deal breaker for me...

Does the standard rear camera give a view of the hitch? Without the 360 system, is the rear camera the only one on the truck? How many does the 360 add? Are there dedicated camera(s) for the lane keeping or does it use cameras that are also used for 360 view?

The tech package adds a camera on the front right below the Ford badge, and two on the bottom of the mirrors.

The lane keeping system uses the camera mounted in the windshield behind the rear view mirror, which is the same one used for the automatic high beams.

Thanks, Propane. So lane keeping may just be software... and sounds like there is no new camera in the back... and the rear does cover the hitch, without the trailer assist feature? I assume that is just the line on screen? (which I find a waste anyway). I just want to see the hitch on screen while backing up.

Looking at your signature, looks like your truck has about the same specs as what I am looking for, minus FX4 and 5.0... was the Sport+502A late availability last year? Sport shows late availability in 2016... may be a typo in order guide. I guess I need to talk to a dealer.

The 360 camera is actually 8 cameras. Retrofit would have to be ridiculous, it's all different parts to accommodate the cam locations. You'd have to replace all that or drill out holes for them.

I bought my truck mid-year, so I'm not sure if the Sport+502A was a late availability for 2015.

My understanding is that the Start Stop button for the 2.7 is in the same place as the 360 Cam button, I wanted this same setup also however it i definitely not avail with the 2.7.
