Default Tailgate unresponsive

Hey y'all,
I'm trying to get the tailgate on my 2015 F150 Lariat to unlock & open. It's been having issues opening via fob, at times taking 5-6 double clicks to open, so I just replaced the actuator in the tailgate. I can audibly hear a difference, but it won't open on the first try. Additional news, the button on the tailgate doesn't work at all, no noises of any sorts. Standing here locking and unlocking via fob and I can only hear the cab locks functioning. Any experience, direction or ideas is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Default Update

So since a little while ago, all I've done is removed those rubber blocks that seem to do nothing but maybe keep the tailgate from rattling (see picture for location) and spray some WD40 on the hinges and the fob opens the tailgate again, 10 for 10 on the first try so I'm content with closing the bed cover again. As for the button, I'll probably just see about replacing the whole assembly.
You can see where it was, should be enough for ya.

Maybe you just got a bad actuator? You get a OEM one or a amazon special?

I did buy it from amazon, along with a new tailgate release buttom but it's still unresponsive (via handle, fob works fine). I bought both from brand A-premium since I can pronounce it and seemed more reputable than some others

Amazon is loaded with Chinese-made junk and counterfeits. Not that you can't get genuine stuff but it's not my go-to for mechanical parts.

Rockauto is good. Don't forget our Rockauto discount codes thread to save some coin.

My tailgate has only failed to open once. I had closed the tailgate after stuffing the bed over full with tree trimmings. The tailgate was in a bind, with the limbs pushing the tailgate outwards fairly forcefully. Once I climbed in, emptied the bed, and the pressure was relieved (similar to what removing the rubber bumpers did for you), the tailgate opened.

I suspect in your case that something has shifted and needs adjusted, as those rubber bumpers don't put much pressure on the tailgate. I did spray down the latches and actuator with penetrating lube, then followed up with some lithium grease a few days later. As for the tailgate button not working, it's fairly common on C6 Corvette door open button (same type of switch) switch contacts to become dirty/corroded and need to be cleaned or just replaced. Of course the alternative is the switch just went bad or you have an electrical issue. Have you verified at the switch connector that there's 12V available coming into the connector?
