This is a power lock unit. Power lock works.

Took off the access panel. Took the rods out of the plastic keeper clamps and tried to actuate the lever to unlatch and no go.
Pulled hard on the rods and could not get the latches to release.

Any ideas?

Take a rubber mallet and gently strike the inside face of the tailgate near the latches a few times. Maybe it'll be enough to jarr the latches to release.

If successful, be sure and lube the latches real good after.
