I can't pull out the tailgate step and wanted to see if you guys had any ideas on how to fix it. I lower the tailgate, press the button and nothing happens.... I try to pull on it but no matter what I do, it won't budge. Is there a trick to open this? My friend has one too and he just presses the button and it pops out. Any guidance on this would be appreciated.

 

No trick that I know of. I've had 2 trucks with the step - push the button and it should pop out about an inch. It might be stuck on something and you just need to pry it (very gently) to get it to pop. You can wipe the rails clean of dirt and then wipe again with a little WD40 to keep them working smoothly.

 

I had the same situation - my step wouldn't move after pushing the button. My truck is under warranty so the dealer dealt with the issue - they cleaned the step and put some monkey snot in places and all is well.
