Apologies if this is off topic, but does that plastic seem to be brittle in the cold? Looks like a great feature, but it gets pretty cold here in Chicago.

It's a decorative cover, covering the step when closed. The step is very strong (metal).

Step is a great feature if you are in and out of truck bed. I love it.
