Default Tailgate removal

Does this bracket that is on the trucks with tailgate steps change the removal procedure at all?

I have the tailgate step and I did not need to remove that bracket to pull the tailgate off when I mounted the tailgate assist shock.

No. Most of the new trucks have locking tailgates/cameras/lights in them, so make sure to unclip that wiring harness. Other than that, it's the two wires to the pegs. I had mine off to do the gas shock mod - and i have e-locks, camera, lights, and a tailgate step.

Thanks for the replies. So there isn't anything that goes into the tailgate from that bracket? Have a good friend that is a master mechanic at the dealer I got my truck from and he doesn't have any idea what the thing is for.
