I purchased this 2020 F150 Lariat 3 weeks ago, and when I took it into the dealership to get it detailed, they found the paint flaking a bit around the “F150” lettering on the tailgate. They said they would turn it into Ford as a warranty claim. Today, they contacted me saying Ford denied my claim, saying they don’t believe it was caused by corrosion. Paint should be covered by 5 years unlimited miles unless caused by the customer, at least that was my understanding.
i contacted Ford directly, and the customer care people told me the same, but offered me “financial assistance” if I decide to fix it. My first step is to get some quotes from a couple body shops (my dealer contracts out it’s body work).
if the body shop finds that corrosion is indeed the cause of the tailgate paint issue, will ford cover this? If they don’t cover this, what does the paint warranty cover?
It looks like it may have a crappy re-paint job. Please let us know what a shop says.
That is my first thought as well because I have never seen anyone post pics like this with factory paint. Peeling on the roof, yes. But this looks like it was repainted and someone didnt prep in the corners very well or at all.
