Tailgate Marker lights

I’ve run lights like these on my last 2 trucks and wondering if anyone has them on this new body style. I’ve used just regular bars for a trailer in the past but wondering if anyone has used a factory unit? Also the GM one looks a lot more sleeker then the fords so might be easier on fitment.

I did something similar onmy '12 150. I went to Tractor Supply, and picked up 3, 3/4" Blazer Red LEDs. They matched my Raptor grille lights exactly, only red. Found the center on the flange that hangs below the tailgate. Drilled thre holes, and wired them into my license plate lights.
Like you, this '17 is the first truck in 20 some years I didn't put lights in there. Kicking around doing it though.
Take a look in my albums, there's a few photos that might give you an idea. I don't seem able to find a photo elsewhere.

Found one! Please disregard that junk Roush tailpipe!LOL

You're welcome, and please do. ;)

Another one you might consider, is the Putco light bar. It is a lot more advanced than this. I really like this as it increases your visibility and add turn signal and reverse lights. Make sure you watch the end of the video, as you will have this issue with even the other light. You need to tie into the tail light harness not the trailer harness. Fords trailer harness when you add something like this thinks you have a trailer connected. So you need to tight into the tail lights.

Gutsy move for a MI truck! Even treating the holes before installing the lights, I'd be scared of rust issues. Very well done, though!

I took the easy way out and installed the Raptor 3rd brake light on my '12. The only mod I had to do was run a wire to the fuse box to activate the parking lamp feature so they ran as marker lights. I'm not sure if you can do that with the new gen. I hope so since I'll be getting one in the next year. If not, I'll be interested in other ideas as I'm a fan of marker lamps (I also have the Raptor style grill lights).

Initially, I went that route on my '12, but none of them [2], worked for very long. They weren't Putco units, maybe Putcos would have better quality and last.

I don't know what all that would entail, [pun not intended], on the 13th gen. It ;)could look good if done right.
Now you guys have my juices flowing as to what could be done on my '17, I have to look around a little deeper than I have so far.
On the '12, after drilling the holes, I shot them with some undercoating, let it dry, then Fluid Filmed them before I installed the LEDS, also helped the grommet slide in easier. I never noticed any rust in the few years I had them in there. Occasionally, I'd shoot the backside with Fluid Film.

Yeah I think it is a matter of you get what you pay for. The Putco's are over $200 where most of the other ones are under $100. I have been doing a lot of research on them and have yet to find a negative review on the Putco one and they make them so they go on Ford, GM and Ram easily. No one complaining about it. The thing i really like about it is the added light to the back up lights. I find the regular back up lights in the F150 pretty poor. So welcome the added lighting there.

I am done modding for the year as winter sets in, going to wait till spring to resume. One it gives my wallet a break around the holidays, and two I do not have a heated garage and I gave up crawling under my truck in the snow a long time ago. Next year I am doing a lot of light add ons. More to address my reverse light issues. Low profile bumper mounted reverse lights.

Those oughta do the job alright. I thought of going that route myself, the only bugaboo would be my tailpipes exit right about where those appear to go. I found some LED replacements for my Ranger a couple years ago, 900 lumens each, and those work great. Something on those lines is what I'd likely do on the 150. Maybe I'll look some up today.
I hear ya on the time of year. I've got a couple light projects myself I'm waiting to do. No heat in my barn either, and Arthur Itis and his friends are in full attack!!!:D

You don't always get what you pay for with Putco or Silverlux. I've seen some of their products which are identical to theirs, and not a knock-off either. Same product, probably from the same factory in China, but they slap on their label and triple the price...
