Default Tailgate Lock Issue

I’ve searched and haven’t found much. Wanting to know how many have had issues with the tailgate lock. I’ve got a 2018 Screw XLT 302A. Been having problems with the tailgate not wanting to unlock. It does appear that it happens more when it’s hot, but I’ve had it happen during cooler weather also.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on a fix or a better made replacement actuator? It seems like the actuator just isn’t strong enough. I can hear it trying to unlock, but it just can’t do it.

Tired of getting locked out of my bed! TIA.

Pop the panel off the tailgate and check the actuator assembly. Maybe something has vibrated loose and causing it to bind somewhere. Just an idea. Throw a little grease in the joints and linkages to help it move easier perhaps.

Sorry, I do not have an answer for you, but I do know this has come up on the forum before, so you might try a couple of other search terms to see if anything appears. I believe they determined it was a bad/weak actuator, but that is all I recall about it. Good luck.
