Second owner of '17 base XLT. According to Ford literature all XLTs have a locking tailgate. Mine has no key on gate so I assumed it had a power lock that worked in conjunction with door locks, key fob, or button on latch.

Here's the issue ... tailgate doesn't lock with door locks, my fob doesn't have a tailgate lock button, nor does my tailgate latch cover have a button under the latch.

Something just doesn't seem right. Anyone have any ideas?

 

There's a connector under the passenger side that the tailgate harness plugs into, check that first
